Install, customize, and debug Drop a Hint on Shopify themes — without digging through support tickets.

01

Widget installation

You can insert the widget using one of the following methods:

Automatic installation: Enabled by default when the app is installed.

Manual installation: Add this snippet where you want the widget to appear:

<div id="dropahint_wrapper"></div>

For a custom button, use:

<div id="cta_dropahint">Your custom button</div>
02

Cache behavior

The app uses cache for performance optimization.

To clear cache manually, refresh any product page seven times. Major design updates (fonts, colors, layout) may take up to 1–2 minutes to fully sync.

03

Theme integration

The app supports most Shopify 2.0 themes.

If the widget does not appear, check that:

  • The app block is added in Online Store → Customize.
  • No conflicting JavaScript disables the wrapper ID.
04

Editing templates

The app is fully customizable. In Shopify Admin go to Drop a Hint → Templates, then use the top-right dropdown to select the part of the app you want to edit.

05

Customization options

  • Button margins and padding via the app editor.
  • Colors and fonts to match your store branding.
  • Custom fonts via Google Fonts integration.
06

Tracking and analytics

Each hint automatically tracks:

  • Open
  • Click
  • Order

Data appears in your app dashboard under Analytics.

07

Multi-language & country display

Multi-language support is available for Pro Plan users. You can define different versions of announcement bars or widgets per country or language.
